Animation principle
I try to animate this hero asset I built for the design project.
I tried to mimic the way a spider moves, so first I animate everything in the same motion at once and then I offset the keyframes for each of the legs to produce a slight difference in every legs’ movement.
I also animate the spine and the head to tilt to opposite direction in the movement so it looks more natural and animal like.
I used different interpolations in between the keyframes, so when it lifts its leg it has a slow loading and when the leg drop the motion is more linear.
I also used the cycle modifier to loop the 60 frames animation to avod copy-pasting.
When it jumps, the weight on th shape also gives a slight squash and stretch effect, which makes the animation more believable.
